KARACHI: ASO Lahore has also joined the anti-smuggling campaign with a bang and initiated raiding shops and warehouses where smuggled goods are kept.
On a secret information by the Worthy Collector Customs Mukarram Jah, the Anti Smuggling Organisation Lahore under the supervision of Muhammad Adnan Khan Assistant Collector, Mumtaz Ajmal Mian Superintendent, Saleem Akhtar, Mazhar Abbas Butter, Ejaz Rasool Shah Deputy Superintendent and Khalid Butt, Irfan Mumtaz, Arif Mayo, Sajjad Bukhari, Amjad Khan, Hameed Bhatti, Shahid Khan Inspectors and other Custom staff successfully raided & recovered 12000 slightly used smuggled tyres of assorted size, brands and 300-Alloy Rims from a godown at Bilal Gunj owned by Nomi & Azeem.
C & F value of recovered goods is Rs.60 Millions whereas market value is Rs.85 millions. Case registered and further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, a meeting of MCC Preventive Lahore was held with the trader Association of Bilal Gunj regarding smuggled/ non duty paid tyres recovered by the Anti Smuggling Organisation.
The owners were asked to provide the legal import documents, till yet they failed to do so.
The tyre traders requested that they will provide the legal import documents within 2-days. Smuggled goods will be seized in case of non production of documents.
