KARACHI: As many as 425 cases are pending before the Special Customs and Taxation Court, which has become vacant with the retirement of Special Judge Soofia Latif on October 10, 2014.
It may be mentioned here that Ministry of Law appoints the judge of Customs court. Chief Justice High Court makes three recommendations, of which one is appointed for the office.
Sources said that its been over 2 months, but the special judge has not been appointed as yet and added that this was nothing new as in past the seats remained vacant for 6-months.
The Judge of Crimes in Banks, Arshad Noor, is serving as the Link Judge after the retirement of Soofia Latif and he is also hearing the emergency cases.
