KARACHI: The R&D Section of Customs Appraisement has recovered Rs9.2 million short-paid through deliberate violation of Valuation Ruling No. 602/2013.
According to details, two Goods Declarations were deleted by R&D section, MCC Appraisement West comprising of assorted valves made of brass.
These both GDs were already cleared, however, on scrutiny it was found that the goods were assessed without application of existing Valuation Ruling No.602/2013, which resulted into evasion of huge revenue.
However, both the GDs on pointing of R&D section were re-assessed and a recovery of Rs9.2 million was made. The Assessment was made on 17th April, 2014.
Collector Appraisement West Mohammad Saleem has put the concerned officer on off-duty for negligence. It was known that the entire ordeal was engineered by a principal appraiser.
