KARACHI: In pursuant to the order of Supreme Court of Pakistan on November 01, 2013, the Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement (South) on Monday issued an office order setting up six teams to visit importers/dealers of arms & ammunition to ascertain the sale of the same within or outside Karachi.
According to official note made available to customnews.pk the teams leaders have been directed that in order to complete this exercise expeditiously and meaningfully following methodology shall be adopted:
i. Information already available in the customs computerized record showing imports of arms and ammunition by the importers/dealers and segregation of cases of import relating to Karachi city during the last three years.
ii. Visit the dealer/importer (on the given address) by the team to inspect the record maintained by the respective dealer of arms & ammunition to ascertain about the sale of the same within or outside Karachi.
iii. On completion of this exercise, reports of the same shall be handed over to the Inspector General of Police Sindh and Director General Rangers for further action as directed by the apex court.
The teams are:
Team A: Muhammad Qasim Khokhar, Deputy Collector, MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi (Team Leader); Noor Alam Durrani, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi; Aziz Sarwar, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement East, Karachi; Abdul Jabbar Khan Niazi, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi; and Sultan Naeem Akhtar, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi.
Team B: Moeen Afzal Ali, Deputy Collector, MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi (Team Leader); Safdar Zaman, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi; Naeem Khan Afridi, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-East, Karachi; Jamshed Ali Rana, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi; and Shahid Nadeem, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi.
Team C: Ms. Sadia Sadaf, Deputy Collector, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi (Team Leader); Zulfiqar Zaman, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi; Rai Iftikhar, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi; Fakhruddin, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi; and Rashid Mehmood, Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi.
Team D: Muhammad Akbar Jan, Deputy Collector, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi (Team Leader); Babar Gulzar, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi; Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti, Appraising Officer, MCC Appraisement-West, Karachi; Shafiq ur Rehman, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC-Preventive, Karachi; and S. Nihal Asharfi, Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi.
Team E: Wajid Zaman, Deputy Collector, MCC Port Qasim, Karachi (Team Leader); Abdul Waheed Khelji, Appraising Officer, MCC Port Qasim, Karachi; Sarfraz Bangalzai, Appraising Officer, MCC Port Qasim, Karachi; Aftab Kalhoro, Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi; and Sadruddin Khoso, Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi.
Team F: Adnan Rafiq, Deputy Collector, MCC Preventive, Karachi (Team Leader); Javed Hassan, Principal Appraiser, MCC Port Qasim, Karachi; Tariq Aziz, Appraising Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi; Qamar Khan, Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi; and Sabihuddin, Senior Preventive Officer, MCC Preventive, Karachi.
The order said that team A and B would carry out the exercise under the supervision of Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi, ADC-I (MCC Appraisement East), team B & C under the supervision of Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, ADC-III (MCC Appraisement-West) and team E & F under the supervision of Muhammad Yakoob Mako, ADC-AFU (MCC Preventive).
The additional collectors shall monitor the performance of their respective teams on daily basis with report to collector MCC Appraisement (West) under endorsement to the office of the Chief Collector (South) Appraisement, Custom House, Karachi.
The order further directed that the teams shall accomplish the assigned task within seven days.
