ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday conducted random computerized balloting and selected 35,595 non-corporate cases and 1,163 cases for audit for the tax year 2012.
The FBR selected the cases for audit from total of 450,000 non-corporate and 12,000 corporate taxpayers.
In the random balloting the FBR selected five percent registered taxpayers from all the regional tax offices across the country.
Besides, the FBR also selected 570 corporate and 9381 non-corporate cases for audit in sales tax. In Federal Excise the selection audit cases stood at 11 corporate and 07 non-corporate, respectively.
The cases that are not selected under the computerized balloting are including cases under presumptive tax regime (PTR), salaries and rental income.
At the balloting top FBR officials were present besides heads of leading trade body and members from tax bars associations also attended the balloting.
