KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gawadar has seized a huge quantity of foreign liquor amounting Rs6.77 million, which was to be smuggled into Pakistan.
According to details, the MCC Gawadar staff received an information regarding smuggling of foreign liquor. The staff taking immediate action on the information intercepted a 6-wheeler truck loaded with foreign liquor of different brands on April 24, 2013.
The liquor include 512 bottles of Whyte and Mackay 1.13 ltr, 270 bottles of Smirnoff Vodka 1.0 ltr, 206 bottles of Teacher’s Whiskey 1.14 ltr, 234 bottles of Highland Queen, 187 bottles of Grant’s whiskey 1.125 ltr, 96 bottles of Ballantine’s whiskey 1.14 ltr.
The value of the truck is estimated to be Rs0.7 million, which brings the total value of the booty to Rs9.525 million.
The liquor (1505 bottles) and the truck have been seized, FIR has been lodged and further investigation is underway.
