KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh on Tuesday ordered a custom official to appear in person in a case of bicycle parts. The controversy revolves round the PCT heading.

According to details, Royal Traders imported a consignment of bicycle parts and filed a goods declaration under relevant PCT heading. The custom officials however disputed the same and valued the item as “complete bicycle” which attracts Regulatory Duty also.

The petitioner contends that the bicycles are without tyres and battery which are considered as essential parts of a complete cycle.

The bench after hearing the counsel for petitioner while issuing notices to the respondents for June 22 ordered the custom official concerned to appear on next date of hearing.
