KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi ordered release of 3 consignments of toilet soap.
The bench earlier heard counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for Blue Sea Tradrs and Hansika. The petitioner companies questioned the enhancement of value by the Director General, Valuation Department.
The counsel for petitioners said that a division bench of SHC has already decided the petitions on identical issue/ dispute pertaining to powers of custom officers with reference to section 25-D of the Customs Act 1969. The issue in dispute has been decided and never challenged by the respondent department, the counsel for petitioners submitted praying to the court to order release of the consignments.
The bench acceded to the request and ordered Pakistan Customs to release the consignments in view of judgment passed earlier.
