KARACHI: Justice M. Iqbal Kalhoro of High Court of Sindh on Friday admitted Sharjeel Jamal and Shahrukh Jamal, clearing agents to ad-interim bail till April 21 against a solvent surety and personal bond of rupees 100,000 in each case.

The applicants/accused filed bail application under section 498 Cr.P.C through their counsel, Khawaja Shamsul  Islam Advocate seeking bail in FIRs 4,5,6,9,10,13 and 14 of 2016 registered against Sharjeel Jamal and FIR 7, 8 and 11 0f 2016 registered against his brother Shahrukh Jamal at PS Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement, East, Custom House Karachi.

The counsel for applicant submitted that the applicant are innocent and falsely implicated in the case on the basis of enmity as he made complaints against high officials about NATO container case. The counsel maintained that his client filed a constitution petition 1353 of 2016 alleging mala-fides and harassment caused to the applicants. The applicant were shown as absconders despite the fact that they are available and co-accused admitted to bail by Courts concerned.

The counsel for applicant also submitted that identical nature of cases were registered by R&D West  and in at least one case applicant Sharjeel  Jamal was admitted to interim pre-arrest bail.

The SHC bench after hearing the counsel for applicant/accused ,in its order said that without touching the merits of the case, applicants were granted ad-interim pre-arrest bail against a solvent surety and Personal Bond of rupees 100,000 each in each case.

The bench issued notice to the respondent Custom officials for April 21 for confirmation or other wise. The orders passed today rendered the Non-bailable warrants of arrest issued by the trial court in-effective till April 21.
