KARACHI: Six identical petitions seeking amendments in Import General Manifest of vehicles were allowed by a Customs Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Abdur Rehman.

Imran Iqbal Khan advocate represented the petitioner while department was represented by Masooda Siraj and Abdul Qadir Syed Advocates.

The bench at the outset of hearing confronted the counsel for the customs regarding its order passed on 5.11.2024 at which counsel told the bench that she has called the concerned official. The bench noted that it is 11:45 and till this time no one turned up from the department.

Imran Iqbal Khan submitted on behalf of the petitioners that the issue of amendment has been decided in a number of cases by this court having identical facts and circumstances.

The bench perused the letters / communication under which amendment was declined. The bench noted that no reason was assigned for declining the request. The bench observed that such conduct by the respondents is not appreciable.

The bench with the above observation sat aside the impugned letters, directing the respondents to accept and process IGM amendment requests and to release vehicles as per law on completion of all formalities.
