KARACHI: The Chief Collector Customs Appraisement South has issued three new circulars addressing the misuse of Sepoys in clerical roles and the employment of private hired persons (Lappos) within Collectorates.

In the first circular, the Chief Collector directed that Sepoys should only perform duties as specified in their job description and should not be assigned clerical work. This practice must be stopped immediately and complied with in true letter and spirit.

In the second circular, the Chief Collector referred to an earlier directive from 2013 and instructed compliance with the guidelines on the employment of private hired persons (Lappos). Each Assistant Collector/Deputy Collector is required to submit a certificate confirming that no Lappo is working in their sections. These certificates must be forwarded to the Chief Collector’s office.

The third circular reiterated the directive that Sepoys should not be performing clerical work, emphasizing that this practice is outside their job description and should cease immediately. The instructions should be followed strictly.

These measures aim to ensure that personnel perform duties within their designated roles and maintain the proper functioning of the Collectorates.
