KARACHI: Hearing a constitutional petition filed by one Zeeshan Butt through counsel Zia-ul-Hassan advocate, a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh allowed release of goods if petitioner deposits disputed amount of duties and taxes mentioned in the Show Cause Notice directly with the department while securing payment of fine etc in shape of bank guarantee.
Earlier Sardar Zafar Hussain undertook to file vakalatnama for respondents including SAPT which was accepted by the bench.
Zia-ul-Hassan Advocate counsel for the petitioner stated that a Show Cause Notice has been issued and petitioner is ready to secure the disputed amount of duty and taxes with the department and for fine will furnish post dated cheques along with indemnity bond before the Nazir of SHC. The request for interim orders was made to avoid increasing demurrage and port charges.
The bench after brief hearing allowed the request while disposing of the petition in terms above.
