As the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) implements its ambitious Transformation Plan, several newly established field formations in various regions, including the Sargodha Collectorate, D.I. Khan Collectorate, Karachi Ports Collectorate, Khuzdar Collectorate, Taftan Collectorate and several others, are set to be dissolved.
These formations were created without the necessary approvals from the Establishment Division and the Finance Ministry, rendering them illegal.
The creation of these additional field formations was primarily to accommodate recently promoted officers. However, under the new reforms, the assessment process will be centralized, and Goods Declarations (GDs) will be assigned to assessment officers across different stations. This restructuring will also affect the Inland Revenue Service, leading to the dissolution of several field formations.
With a surplus of officers, many are currently placed in the Admin Pool awaiting their postings. Sources indicate that officers such as Muhammad Saleem (BS-21), Irum Maqbool (BS-21), and Abdul Rauf (BS-20) will soon be assigned new positions. Additionally, a quota system for the Civil Services of Pakistan (CSP) officers will be introduced to prevent overcrowding in departments.
