KARACHI: The leaders of the United Business Group (UBG) Mr Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab, Hanif Gohar, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, Malik Khuda Bakhsh and Momin Ali Malik  have welcomed Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s reassuring statements during his interactive session with Karachi’s business community. His words brought significant relief amidst the current economic challenges, particularly regarding high IPP electricity tariffs, bank interest rates, and poor infrastructure.

The UBG leaders praised General Munir’s commitment to reducing industrial electricity tariffs and repairing roads in trading and commercial areas. They noted that the business community, previously disillusioned with the economic situation, now feels encouraged and hopeful about Pakistan’s prospects for economic stability, provided a level playing field is established.

The UBG acknowledged the COAS’s recognition of the business community’s contributions to economic growth across all sectors. They also appreciated General Munir’s efforts to curb cross-border smuggling and illegal dollar outflow, which helped stabilize the Pakistani Rupee and reduce inflation.

Furthermore, the UBG commended the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in driving economic improvement and growth. They welcomed General Munir’s call for government departments to avoid creating bottlenecks for traders and investors.
