KARACHI: MCC JIAP has lodged an FIR against M/s Wings Express (WEX) Worldwide Courier & Logistics for mis-declaring description, quantity and value of the imported goods to fraudulently claim inadmissible exemptions of SRO 1109(I)/2020 and evade legitimate government taxes on the import of banned Indian origin goods.
M/s Wings Express (WEX) Worldwide Courier & Logistics imported a consignment declared as cloth and garments for women and kids.
Based on the information passed through Chief Collector Enforcement Yaqoob Mako, the subject consignment was examined, which found the goods to be high-end branded goods in commercial quantity including Nike brand shoes of Indian origin, garments, handbags, assorted jewelry and other goods.
It is established that M/s Wings Express hoodwinked the authorities by attempting to clear undeclared goods and banned goods on fake import documents. The importer attempted to evade government revenue of Rs9.67 million.
An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
