KARACHI: Collector Hyderabad Mumtaz Khoso has duty-off two inspectors and two Sepoys for illegally removing confiscated goods and selling the same in market.
According to details, information was received that Inspectors Zulfiqar Jamali, Muhammad Shareef, Sepoys Haider Shah and Muhammad Bachal illegally sold 10 bags of confiscated betel nut and other confiscated goods. These goods had been seized at Check post Hyderabad Bypass.
Mumtaz Khoso Collector Hyderabad formed a team led by an Assistant Collector to investigate the case and conduct an audit of the said check post.
An official said investigation into the smuggling network in Hyderabad led to a retired inspector of I&I Hyderabad.
He is the link between Customs superintendents and inspectors with smugglers. The mentioned retired official executes arrangements pertaining to movement and removal of smuggled goods between smugglers and Customs staff.
Niaz Fuel Station is his base of operation and two tankers for movement of smuggled Irani diesel.
