QUETTA: Customs Enforcement Quetta has warned all check posts and customs stations in its jurisdiction regarding unsatisfactory anti-smuggling performance in the last two months.
On the instructions of Collector Quetta Dr. Fareed and Additional Collector Moin Fazal, Assistant Collector HQ Shafiullah has served a letter on in-charges of 18 checkposts/stations, which reads, “During the previous two months the targets have not been achieved and the performance of the check/posts/stations are not up to the requirement”.
“The anti-smuggling performance of last month is not only abysmally below the assigned targets but 75% lower compared to the previous month, notwithstanding the establishment of a dedicated enforcement formation. Such trends are highly alarming and need to be arrested.
“The competent authority has expressed extreme displeasure over the lackluster performance and has desired that all out efforts may be made to achieve and surpass the assigned enforcement targets”.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has assigned the monthly anti-smuggling target of Rs1.2 billion for every month to Customs Enforcement Quetta.
Customs Enforcement Quetta has assigned a target of Rs100 million each to 8 check posts/stations including Darakhshan, Manikhawa, Yaroo, Lakpass, Surab, Chaman Preventive station, Rakhni and Ziarat Cross.
Similarly a monthly anti-smuggling target of Rs60 million each to Mobile Squad and Noshki. Monthly target of Rs50 million is assigned to each of SDAQ (kolpur), Nuttal (DMJ), Taftan Preventive and Nokundi. Moreover, Rs20 million monthly anti-smuggling target is assigned to Sheela Bagh, AFU, Mashkel and Khuzdar.
Collector Quetta has directed all formations to accelerate the performance pace for the seizure of smuggled goods / vehicles and make concerted efforts to augment anti-smuggling activities.
