HYDERABAD: Customs Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad has recovered 170 bottles of foreign origin whisky from a container laden vehicle at National Highway and arrested two persons.

Keeping in line with the directions of Abdul Rasheed Shaikh, Director General, Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Islamabad to curb the menace of smuggling of contraband goods, Director Dr. Sadiqullah Khan, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Hyderabad instructed the head of ASO Wing Mr. Jamshed Ali Talpur, Additional Director and Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi Deputy Director to keep extra vigilance on the movement of contraband goods.

Consequently, pursuing a reliable source that foreign origin Whisky would be transported from Karachi to Multan via National Highway under the garb of PVC resin loaded on 10-Wheeler Truck , team of ASO Wing, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Hyderabad proceeded towards National Highway and mounted active surveillance.

Resultantly, the team of ASO Wing Hyderabad apprehended the subject Truck at National Highway near Qazi Ahmed, District Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad).

The container was found loaded with foreign origin Whisky Brand: Black Label, Red Label and Chivas Regal packed in 16 cartons under the garb of PVC resin.

Since the information was authentic, therefore, the possession of the truck alongwith container was taken over in the custody and escorted to the premises of Directorate Hyderabad.

Thorough examination of the goods/vehicle was carried out which resulted into recovery of 170-Bottles of  Whisky (Liquor) including 90-Bottles of Chivas Regal Blended Scotch Whisky, 50-Bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label Blended Scotch Whisky, 30-Bottles of Johnnie Walker Red Label Blended Scotch Whisky packed in 16 Cartons and 700-Bags of Indonesian origin PVC resin.

The current market value of the recovered Whisky is approx Rs.4.1 Million and seized PVC RESIN is Rs.7 Million and that of vehicle is Rs.3 Million.

Total value of the case is Rs.14.1 Million. Two persons namely Riaz Hussain S/o Iqbal Hussain (Driver) and Iqbal Hattaar S/o Muhammad Bukhsh (Cleaner) have been arrested and FIR is lodged.
