Karachi (PR) Sheikh Sultan Rehman Vice President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry stated that the role of the Business Community is indispensable in reviving the economy of Pakistan. He was discussing current economic challenges faced by Pakistan in general and the Province of Sindh in particular with the visiting Senator Taj Haider of Pakistan People Party. While welcoming he said that Senator Taj Haider is a seasoned parliamentarian and intellectual who was awarded the Sitara-e- Imtiaz on his untiring services in the politics of Pakistan.
Sheikh Sultan Rehman Vice President discussed various avenues of economic revival specifically the role of business community under public-private-partnership (PPP). He said that without the involvement of the private sector the short-term to long- term planning may not be possible as the business sector which practically faces and observes repercussion of economic policies.
Senator Taj Haider while responding to the FPCCI Vice President said that the FPCCI should propose a comprehensive plan of industrial expansion in Sindh and utilize available infrastructure and land under public- private- partnership (PPP). He further informed that groundwater is rising in the Tharparkar District which will improve agriculture. He added that business community should avail liberal policies by the Sindh Government for agro- technology and for industrialization.
While concluding Sheikh Sultan Rehman Vice President FPCCI acknowledged the services of Senator Taj Haider a notable politician, nationalist, playwright, mathematician, versatile scholar, and intellectual whose visit to the Federation House will encourage trade and industry and improve public and private relationships.
