KARACHI: Director Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi Yaqoob Mako, after consultations with Additional Director Rana Tasleem and Deputy Director Gorchani, has reshuffled the entire team of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO).
Sources said there were reports that certain staff members of ASO were lenient on smugglers as they had formed arrangements with the individuals involved in wrongdoings.
Following the revamping of team, ASO made significant seizures of smuggled goods and detection og revenue evasion worth Rs124 million, arrested two persons and lodged several FIRs in October so far.
The seized goods include 15,000 liters Iran origin smuggled diesel and a tanker valuing Rs5.0 million, two persons were also arrested.
Another oil tanker containing 48,000 liters of diesel valuing Rs10 million were also impounded. Moreover, three luxury vehicles including Toyota Lexus Jeep, Mercedes Benz Car, Toyota Surf Jeep worth Rs45 million were impounded. ASO also seized miscellaneous smuggled goods and detected misdeclaration.
