Karachi Customs Agents Association stated in a press release that KCAA always strives to facilitate its members and trade to keep them updated about outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In the wake of global outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) being declared as pandemic by World Health Organization multiple incidents are being reported all over the country, considering country wide situation Karachi Customs Agents Association has already issued precautionary measures to all concerned.
In this regard, Pakistan Customs, FBR and all other concerned departments have taken certain initiatives to promulgate precautionary measures in order to minimize customer’s interaction at all respective workplace of Pakistan Customs to avoid likely transmission of the virus. KCAA appreciated the precautionary measures taken by all the respective Model Customs Collectorates of Karachi and Port Qasim as well.
In this regard KCAA would like to draw the kind attention of Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan to grant maximum relaxation to the trade / business community by issuing necessary instructions to the Port & Shipping authorities to waive the Port Demurrage and Container Rent for the time being to facilitate the trade / business community and avoid further financial loss/burden in this crucial time. Further, KCAA being the main stakeholder representing customs agent’s community highly recommends all competent authorities of Ministries, Federal Board of Revenue and Pakistan Customs to waive the Customs Duty and Taxes on Coronavirus testing kits which are required to be imported for the testing of Coronavirus disease.
