KARACHI: MCC Preventive Karachi has formed Back-up Squad to assist and augment Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), as MCC Preventive has marked several markets and warehouses as dumping grounds for smuggled goods.

ASO has planned a massive crackdown on markets and warehouses housing smuggled goods.

The back-up squad comprises of well equipped and well trained officials, who could be called for support by ASO, as the unscrupulous elements pose severe resistance to Customs enforcement activities.

ASO Preventive conducted several operations in the city and recovered large quantity of miscellaneous smuggled goods worth millions of rupees.  These operations/raids were conducted in Site area, National Highway and City Station.

All these operations were intelligence based and resulted in recovery of large quantity smuggled goods including poly propylene film, tyre and betel nut.

On the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan has geared up anti-smuggling activities to promote and protect legitimate trade. Federal government has declared Pakistan Customs as the lead agency in this anti-smuggling campaign.

A meeting chaired by Chief Collector Enforcement South Wasif Memon and Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed widely appreciated the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) comprising Additional Collector Haroon Waqar Malik, Deputy Collector Muhammad Asim Awan, Superintendent Jamal Zia, IPS Iftikhar Hasan and others.
