KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has seized 13,000 liters of smuggled Iran origin diesel along with the vehicle, which was smuggled via Northern Bypass for sale in the city.
Information was received in the Directorate that huge quantity or foreign origin (Irani) diesel oil would be smuggled via Northern Bypass, Karachi for sale in the city. Accordingly, a team was constituted which intercepted a vehicle near PS Gaddap, Karachi.
Upon cursory checking on the spot, the vehicle was found to be loaded with diesel oil. The driver was asked to produce import/purchase documents verifying its lawful possession and transportation, which he failed to provide.
The vehicle was then escorted to the Directorate for detailed examination against proper documentation, which resulted in recovery of 13,000 liters of smuggled Iran origin High Speed Diesel.
Accordingly, the diesel oil worth Rs1.7 million along with the vehicle worth Rs4.0 million were seized. Further investigations are underway.
