KARACHI: A number of identical petitions filed by sacked employees of Education department, Ghotki were dismissed by a  bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan on account of delay of 17 months.

The appellants maintained that they were employed in different capacities including Computer Data Operator etc against posts in Sukkur, Ghotki division. They maintained that after serving for years they were sacked on ground of having furnished fake documents and  that their case falls under illegal employment.

The bench observed that more than 500 persons were appointed against advertised 166 posts. The bench further observed that the petitioners filed the petition before the apex court after a delay of 17 months. You could have approached the Federal Services Tribunal like other employees who were regularized into service after verification of their documents.

The bench after hearing the petitioners appearing in person, Additional Advocate General Sindh and an officer of the Ghotki education department dismissed the petitions on technical ground of limitation (delay of 17 months in filing the appeal).
