KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi disposed off a petition filed by Muhammad Pervaiz Sanjrani who imported a Toyota Crown car.

The counsel for petitioner maintained that the respondent custom officials are casuing harassment to to him and have passed an order in original against him. The respondents have no material to implead the petitioner in any proceedings, the counsel maintained.

The bench after a detailed hearing disposing off the petition restrained the custom authorities from harassing the petitioner.

The same bench also put off hearing of a petition filed by an NGO Shara Trust which provides shelter to homeless aged people. The customs authorities have detained five consignments of mixed items mainly old clothes meant for winter. The Model Collectorate of Customs (MCC) East is denying exemption to the petitioner NGO.

The bench after a brief hearing adjourned further proceedings till Feb 27.
