KARACHI: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released a modified Consumer Price Index (CPI) document where inflation for the month of October 2018 has been reduced by 22bps to 6.78 percent compared to 7.0 percent announced earlier.

“The change in CPI is due to the bureau adjusting gas price increase from 104.91 percent YoY to 85.31 percent YoY,” Arslan Hanif at Arif Habib Limited said.

This also brings monthly inflation down by 21bps to 2.34 percent compared to 2.55 percent announced earlier. Core inflation (NFNE) remains at 8.2 percent. “This took the 4MFY19 (July-October) average inflation to 5.9 percent against 3.5 percent during the same period last year.
