KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan on Monday issued notices in a petition filed by importers of soap.

Ghula mullah Sheikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioners/importers Mariam and FARMs Corporation submitted that respondent Director General, Valuation enhanced the value of soap material from 66 cents to 82 cents without any jurisdiction and in violation of Section 25 of the Customs Act 1969.

He maintained that the only Director Valuation has the powers to determine the value of the imported items while DG has the appellate or revision jurisdiction.
