KARACHI: The Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi has served Audit Observations on five importers who evaded government revenue through claiming inadmissible benefit of concessionary SROs on the import of aerosol spray paints.
On the directives if Director Gul Rehman, PCA Karachi conducted scrutiny of import data, and it has been found that M/s Nasir Corporation Karachi, M/s M-H Traders Lahore, M/s Aziz Sons Karachi, M/s Zayyan Trading Corporation Karachi and M/s Tariq Auto Trader Karachi imported consignments of Aerosol Spray Paints under PCT Heading 3208.9090 paying Custom Duty of 12.5 percent after claiming benefit of SRO 659(I)/2007.
However, the subject goods are correctly classifiable under PCT 3208.2090 attracting Customs Duty of 20 percent, Sales Tax of 17 percent, Additional Sales Tax of 03 percent and Income Tax at 06 percent.
Assistant Director Sajid Ali Baloch in the Audit Observations notes by way of misdeclaration of classification M/s Nasir Corporation Karachi, M/s M-H Traders Lahore, M/s Aziz Sons Karachi, M/s Zayyan Trading Corporation Karachi and M/s Tariq Auto Trader Karachi evaded/short paid a total of Rs6.171 million.
Therefore, above mentioned importers are advised to pay above mentioned short paid duty/taxes in the government exchequer.
In case they are of the opinion that audit observation is not correct, they can appear either personally or through authorized representative and/or provide self-explanatory written clarification along with supporting documents.
