KARACHI: Sindh High Court has suspended an FIR against owners of M/s Muqeet Brothers till March 19, 2013 and directed that no arrest or investigation whatsoever shall be made on this FIR without permission of the court.
It is further directed that business premises of the petitioner shall be immediately de-sealed and any orders made by the respondents (customs authorities) in this regard hereby stand suspended and it is further directed that any delay in implementation in giving effect to this order or any interference with the business premises of the petitioner shall be regarded as disobedience of the order of the court and shall be dealt with accordingly.
The court issued this order in a constitutional petition filed by Muhammad Muqeet Khalid against Federal Board of Revenue, Collector of MCC Appraisement and Deputy Collector (Research and Development) MCC Appraisement.
Earlier, the customs authorities had registered FIR against Muqeet Brothers for defrauding the national exchequer and evading Rs416 million duty and taxes.
