Hyderabad: In a robust operation targeting the illicit trade of smuggled goods, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Hyderabad, in tandem with the Sindh Police and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has achieved a substantial breakthrough. A meticulously planned Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) has resulted in the confiscation of a significant quantity of illegal petroleum products within Hyderabad city and Daulatpur Taluqa of Shaheed Benazirabad.
The operation, spearheaded under the guidance of Collector Mona Mehfoz and executed by Additional Collector Shah Faisal Shaho, came in response to directives from Chief Collector Enforcement Basiq Abbasi. The enforcement authorities were instructed to intensify their efforts against smuggling, with particular emphasis on raids targeting warehouses suspected of harboring illegal goods.
On February 9, 2025, law enforcement agencies launched a series of coordinated raids across Hyderabad city. These operations focused on dismantling illegal depots believed to be storing smuggled goods. Thanks to precise intelligence and strategic execution, the raids disrupted the illicit supply chain, marking a notable victory in the ongoing battle against smuggling in the region.
The initial success in Hyderabad set the stage for a subsequent operation on February 14, 2025, in Daulatpur Taluqa of Shaheed Benazirabad. Supported by local police and intelligence agencies, this raid led to the largest seizure of Irani Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) products recorded to date.
The total value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be Rs. 110.928 million (PKR 11.9 crore). Enforcement agencies moved quickly to lodge First Information Reports (FIRs) and have commenced further investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for orchestrating the smuggling operations.
This series of successful operations underscores the unwavering commitment of Pakistan Customs, Sindh Police, and the ISI to eradicating smuggling and safeguarding the economic interests of the nation. Authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining momentum in the fight against illegal activities and ensuring that those involved are brought to justice.
