Karachi: In a significant operation, the Collectorate of Customs Exports at the Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) has successfully thwarted an attempt to illegally export a substantial quantity of jaggery (Gur) to Spain. The exporter involved in this attempt is identified as M/s Nauras (Pvt) Ltd (National Tax Number: 0913140), operating through their Customs Clearing Agent, VIP Clearing.

The company had filed Export Goods Declaration No. KPPE-SB-159827-09-01-2025, listing 22 miscellaneous food items including assorted crystal jellies, custard powder, creme caramel, gelatine, and pickle under the brand name “Sun Dip.” However, the declaration conspicuously omitted any mention of jaggery (Gur), which falls under HS code 1701.1310. According to Schedule I, Sr. No.8 of the Export Policy Order 2022, the export of jaggery (Gur) is explicitly banned.

The customs authorities acted on a tip-off, prompting the examination staff to conduct a thorough, 100% examination of the consignment. During this meticulous inspection, they uncovered a hidden stash of 360 kilograms of jaggery (Gur) concealed in the far corners of the container, marked as MEDU8752985.

Following the discovery, the confiscated jaggery was promptly seized, and a contravention case was registered against both the exporter, M/s Nauras (Pvt) Ltd, and their clearing agent, VIP Clearing. The Collectorate is actively investigating the incident to determine the accountability and involvement of the responsible parties.

This operation was made possible by the vigilance and coordination of the customs staff, guided by information provided by Collector Saadia Sheeraz and supervised by Deputy Collector (DC) Usman Hameed Butt.

The Collectorate of Customs Exports continues to enforce stringent measures to prevent the unauthorized export of banned goods, ensuring compliance with national and international trade regulations.
