KARACHI: The Directorate of Law & Prosecution (Customs) under the Government of Pakistan has rolled out a new Litigation Management System (LMS) for cases fixed for hearing before superior courts.
According to an official document dated December 8, 2024, the newly implemented system assigns specific tasks to key officers within the Directorate of Law & Prosecution, Custom House, Karachi. The officers, Mr. Fazal Bokhari (Additional Director), Mr. Rashid Khanzada (Deputy Director), and Mr. Sajid Ali (Preventive Officer), have been directed to ensure comprehensive monitoring and reporting of legal cases.
The document highlights the importance of obtaining USER IDs for the LMS from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by December 23, 2024. This move is part of the broader strategy to maintain updated records and streamline communication through both the LMS and WhatsApp.
Director Zeba Azhar emphasized the significance of timely feedback and the submission of detailed reports. She outlined the responsibilities of each officer, including liaising with respective authorities, ensuring attendance, and updating case statuses in the LMS.
The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of handling legal cases by ensuring that all relevant information is promptly updated and shared. This structured approach is expected to improve the overall management of litigation, providing a more organized and transparent process for legal proceedings.
The document was also copied to the Member (Accounting & Legal) and the Director General of the Directorate General of Law & Prosecution, Federal Board of Revenue, Islamabad, underscoring the national importance of this initiative.
With these new measures in place, the Directorate of Law & Prosecution is set to handle legal cases with greater accuracy and efficiency, ultimately contributing to a more effective legal system in Pakistan.
