In a surprising turn of events, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all Customs and Inland Revenue Service (IRS) field formations to immediately stop the recruitment process for posts in BS-01 to 04. This directive excludes only those appointments where offer letters had already been issued by October 10, 2024.

For the past 15 days, Customs machinery had been in full swing, conducting physical tests at various stations and holding interviews, even on holidays. The recruitment process had reached its final stages, with appointment letters on the verge of being issued. However, the government decided to halt the process at the eleventh hour.

This decision has left hundreds of thousands of applicants disappointed, as many had been eagerly awaiting these job opportunities. The abrupt stoppage has raised concerns and questions among the candidates and the general public.
