KARACHI: Three different constitution petitions CP-D 4725 of 2024, 4645 and 4646 of 2024 were disposed off by a Custom Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh. Amjad Hayat Advocate appeared for the petitioners while customs department was represented by Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate.

As the petitions came up for hearing the counsel submitted that customs has changed the classification of goods in question against which separate appeals are pending. He submitted that petitioners were ready to secure the differential amount so that goods lying at port and incurring port charges are released.

The bench allowed the request as interim measure allowing the release if the petitioners secure the disputed amount of duty and taxes before the concerned Collectorates and pay the amount of duty and taxes also. The secured amount was linked to the decision in appeals which court ordered that shall be decided strictly in accordance with law.
