KARACHI: Hearing six Special Criminal Acquittal Appeals, an appellate bench of High Court of Sindh ordered issuance of notice to the Deputy Attorney General for 26.9.2024 as he was called absent.
The bench also ordered that interim order suspending the part of judgment/ order passed by the Special Custom Court, Karachi will continue till next date of hearing.
The bench asked the counsel for respective sides to come prepared for assisting the court on point of law involved in the instant appeals.
The appeals are filed by the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigations, Pakistan Customs assailing order of the trial court which while acquitting the accused also ordered release of goods. The customs maintain that trial court has no powers to pass order in matters under adjudication before competent forum. Mehmood Alam Rizvi and Khalid Rajper Advocates are representing the appellant department.
