KARACHI: Hearing six identical Special Criminal Acquittal Appeals filed by Director Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigations, a bench of High Court of Sindh suspended order of release of goods passed by Special Judge Pakistan Customs.
The bench heard Mehmood Alam Rizvi and Khalid Mehmood Rajpar advocate who submitted that judge Special Custom Court failed to distinguish between criminal and Adjudication proceedings and did not appreciate that he has no jurisdiction particularly when Show Cause Notices have been issued to the respondents.
The issue pertains to import of black tea and exemptions for Kashmir region.
The bench after hearing counsel for one of the respondents ordered suspension of second part of order of trial court to the extent of release of goods while ordering notices to respondents for Sept 10.
