KARACHI: Customs Enforcement Karachi is efficiently continuing the anti smuggling campaign making cases on daily basis in accordance with the Government of Pakistan’s policy against smuggled goods.
Information was passed through Collector Enforcement Basit Abbasi to Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado regarding presence of smuggled fuel.
Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi team led by Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi and comprising SPS-ASO Muhammad Habib Mayo, Muhammad Saqlain, and Preventive Officer Muhammad Zubair conducted a successful operation with the assistance of Sindh Police on Aug 10th 2024, at Ajmer 2 petrol pump survey no 149-150 near Margalla city, Northern Bypass, Karachi.
During the operation, approximately 24,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel were recovered from illegal storage and underground tanks.
Upon arrival at the site, the customs team encountered a Mazda bearing registration NAF-424 delivering the smuggled diesel to the filling station which was taken into custody. The diesel was transferred to the Collectorate’s warehouse in two rented oil tanker vehicles for detailed examination and further legal proceedings.
The market value of the recovered diesel and Mazda are approximately Rs 14 million, and an FIR is being lodged against the culprits in the Customs Court.
Authorities are also cracking down on fuel stations mixing hydrocarbon condensate in the fuel.
