Chaman: In a recent press conference, former leaders of the Chaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the severe impact of ongoing protests in Quetta on Pak-Afghan bilateral trade.

Haji Jalal Khan Achakzai reported that police have blocked roads with containers loaded with goods, including medicines and food items, incurring a daily demurrage of $250.

The containers, placed in front of the Governor House by Baloch leaders during the protests, include four specifically designated for Afghan transit trade. Customs officials issued a letter to the SSP Operations and CPO Quetta on August 1st, instructing the release of these containers. However, the directive has yet to be implemented.

Typically, local containers are used to block protest demonstrations, but in this instance, containers meant for bilateral trade have been halted, causing significant losses and difficulties for traders. The leaders urged authorities to take immediate action to resolve the situation.
