KARACHI: Syed Shujaat Hussain, Director General of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), has announced the establishment of a new industrial zone in Surjani. The North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI) and the Federal B. Area Association of Trade & Industry (FABAT) will be given priority in this development.
Syed Shujaat Hussain made the announcement during a meeting held at the invitation of NKATI President Faisal Moiz Khan. The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Shabbir Ismail, Vice President Naeem Haider, Chief Executive Officer of NKIDMC Younus Khamisani, and other notable figures including Imran Moiz Khan, Tariq Rasheed, Mahmood Rangoonwala, Syed Sabir Ali, Azim Ali, Syed Yasir Ali, Asghar Hussain, Sajjad Wazir, Shahid Sabir, and Moin Qadri.
The DG KDA informed that approximately 500 industrial plots, ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 yards, have been earmarked for the new industrial zone in Surjani. He emphasized that infrastructure development will proceed swiftly, and encouraged the industrial community to seize this significant investment opportunity to contribute to the country’s economic stability.
Faisal Moiz Khan, President of NKATI, welcomed the DG KDA and expressed appreciation for the announcement of the new industrial zone. He also pledged full support for the initiative. Additionally, Khan raised concerns about increasing encroachments in the North Karachi Industrial Area, particularly around KDA roads, which he urged should be addressed. He also requested action against unauthorized hotels on industrial plots and inquired about the progress of roadwork and the Red Bus project.
In response, the Director General assured that measures would be taken to remove encroachments and that construction and repair work on Godhra and Saba cinema roads would be addressed.
