KARACHI: In line with the Government of Pakistan’s policy against smuggled goods, Customs Enforcement Karachi conducted a joint operation with Military Intelligence Wing, Karachi at Raees Petroleum at RCD Highway near Mochko, Karachi. Information was passed through Collector Basit Abbasi to Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado regarding presence of smuggled fuel. Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi formed a team comprising SPS Habib Mayo, Saeed Ashraf and Preventive Officer Saqlain Chadhar to conduct the raid.  

Approximately 11,000 litres of smuggled Irani diesel along with one dumper were recovered. The HSD was loaded on rented oil tanker and shifted to the Collectorate’s warehouse for detailed examination and further legal proceedings. The market value of the recovered quantity of Irani diesel is Rs 3 million and the value of vehicle is approximately Rs. 10 million. Total value of the case is Rs 13 million.

In another case, Customs Enforcement conducted an operation on two illegal storages situated at Gulshan-e-Maymar Karachi. Approximately 15,400 litres (10,200+5,200) of smuggled Irani diesel were recovered. The HSD was loaded on rented oil tanker and shifted to the Collectorate’s warehouse for detailed examination and further legal proceedings. The market value of the recovered quantity of Irani Diesel is approximately Rs 4.5 million.

An official said Customs had initiated raids on fuel station selling smuggled fuel as well as fuel mixed with hydrocarbon solvent.
