Karachi: In a significant operation against the illegal trade of smuggled goods, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Karachi carried out a successful raid on a godown located at Singer Chowrangi, Korangi.

Information was passed through Basit Abbasi, Collector Customs Enforcement to Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado. Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi supervised Preventive Officers Imran Maqsood and Muhammad Saqlain, conducted the operation.

During the raid, a staggering 3000 kilograms of foreign-origin betel nuts, along with associated manufacturing materials, were seized from the godown. The contraband goods were suspected to have been smuggled into the country, bypassing legal channels and evading taxes and duties.

This seizure sends a strong message to smugglers that their illicit activities will not go unchecked.

The confiscated betel nuts and manufacturing materials have been transferred to the Collectorate’s warehouse for detailed examination. The authorities will conduct further investigations to determine the origin of the goods and identify those responsible for their illegal import.

Customs Enforcement Karachi remains steadfast in its efforts to combat smuggling and protect the nation’s economic interests. The agency continues to tighten its grip on illicit trade, ensuring that smugglers face the full force of the law.
