KARACHI: Federal Government has established Special Courts by conversion/re-designation of the three (03) existing Accountability Courts in the province of Sindh.
Based on the recommendations of the High Court of Sindh, Karachi, the Federal Government has also appointed the Judges in the respective re-designated/converted Courts with immediate effect.
Accountability Court-VIII Karachi is converted to Special Court (Customs, Taxation and Anti- Smuggling-II), Karachi. Mr. Rahmatullah Mooro, D&SJ is appointed the judge (till the date of superannuation i.e. 04.02.2027);
Accountability Court-III, Hyderabad is re-designated as Banking Court, Mirpurkhas, and Mr. Sultan Ali Laghari, D&SJ is appointed the judge for a period of three years; and.
Accountability Court-IV, Sukkur is converted to Banking Court, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mr. Muhammad Murad Memon, D&SJ is appointed the judge for a period of three years.
Further, on the recommendations of the High Court of Sindh, Karachi, the Federal Government has appointed Ms. Naseem Akhtar, District & Sessions Judge/Judge, Accountability Court-III, Hyderabad as Judge, Accountability Court-I, Hyderabad for the remaining period of her deputation expiring on 02.09.2025.
The existing posts of Judges and supporting staff along with budget and assets pertaining to the above-mentioned converted/re-designated Accountability Courts are transferred to the newly-established Courts as mentioned against each.
The already existing Special Court (Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling), Karachi is hereby re-titled as “Special Court (Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling-I). Karachi” and the newly-established Court is hereby titled as “Special Court (Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling-II), Karachi”. Accordingly, Karachi Division is notified as the headquarters for both the above-mentioned Special Courts (CT&AS-I & II), Karachi. These Courts will function within their respective territorial jurisdictions within the province of Sindh under Section-46(2) of the “Prevention of Smuggling Act, 1977”.
