KARACHI: In a significant move to enhance revenue collection, the Government of Pakistan’s Revenue Division, under the Federal Board of Revenue’s Customs Wing, has issued a directive to all Chief Collectors of Customs across various regions. The directive mandates that all field formations will remain operational on the weekend of 30th and 31st March 2024, including extended working hours until midnight on the 31st.

This exceptional measure aims to facilitate the collection of duties and taxes during the closing days of the financial quarter. The Chief Collectors from Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, and Islamabad have been instructed to coordinate closely with the State Bank of Pakistan and the National Bank of Pakistan to ensure the same-day transfer of the collected revenues to the state treasury.

The extended hours are expected to provide taxpayers with additional time to fulfill their fiscal obligations, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic stability and growth.
