Khuzdar Customs, under the strict directions of Collector Saleem Memon, launched a crackdown against smuggling on 9th and 10th of December 2023 and seized smuggled goods worth over 50 million rupees in two raids.

In the first raid, Khuzdar Customs intercepted a Daewoo bus of Aaleeshan company at CP khurkhera and recovered a huge quantity of smuggled edible items, cigarettes and gutka. The seized goods included 41,520 chocolates, 3,840 cakes, 9,240 hand creams, 5,220 milano chocolates, 1,340 packets of yeast, 1,032 biscuits, 43 cartons of fruity bars and 660 shampoos. The total value of the catch was estimated at 24.6 million rupees.

In the second raid, Khuzdar Customs, in collaboration with the police, intercepted another Daewoo bus at Winder and recovered 88,000 sachets of Safina gutka and 60,000 cigarette sticks. The total value of the catch was estimated at 26.2 million rupees.

The ADC of Khuzdar Customs, Sajid Baloch, and the AC, Rana Umair, supervised the operations. Customs also arrested the drivers and conductors of the buses. The smuggled goods were being transported from Karachi to Quetta and that they had registered FIRs against the culprits.

Khuzdar Customs would continue to take strict action against smuggling in the region. Smuggling is not only causing loss to the national exchequer but also posing a threat to the health and safety of the people.
