The Customs Gwadar under the supervision of Collector Gwadar Engineer Riaz Memon, conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation in Mirani Dam area, Kech on Thursday.

The team, led by Assistant Collector Bakht Baryar and comprising Inspectors Faqir Baloch, Kamal Jan and Class 4 staff, acted on a tip-off and searched the area near the dam. They discovered small packets of hashish (Charas) buried under ground, weighing 135 kgs and worth Rs 67.5 million in the market.

According to preliminary investigation, the contraband had been transported through unfrequented routes for consolidation and onwards transporting to the coastline in the cover of darkness. Thereafter in open sea, this contraband is transported through larger boats to other destinations in Middle East and Africa as well as Europe and Turkey.

The seizure has been affected and an FIR has been lodged. Further investigations are underway to nab the culprits involved in this illegal trade.
