KARACHI: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Karachi, under the directions of Director General Mr Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, carried out two successful anti-smuggling operations in Yousuf Goth area of Karachi on Wednesday. The operations were conducted in coordination with Sindh Rangers and Police.

In line with the government’s anti-smuggling policy, Director Karachi Engineer Habib Ahmad and Additional Director Afzaal Ahmad Wattoo have tightened the vigilance and enhanced the intelligence network. Deputy Director Wasif Malik formed a team led by Assistant Director Saood Hassan and Principle Appraiser Irshad Shah, which recovered 11 truck load of smuggled plastic daana, chocolates, dry milk and other items of worth millions of rupees. The smuggled goods were dumped and distributed in Yousuf Goth, which is a hub of smuggling activities in the city. The smuggled goods were transported from Baluchistan through Suzuki pickup vehicles.

The operations started at mid night and were completed in the morning. A case has been registered and investigations have been initiated by I&I Karachi.

It may be recalled that I&I Karachi had recently raided a private school building and recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods from there as well. The Customs Intelligence is determined to curb the menace of smuggling and protect the national economy.
