KARACHI: Taking a lenient view a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh deferred imposition of cost against Directorate of Intelligence & Investigations (DIT) on account of un_necessary hold placed on imported consignments.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Hasan Akbar and others challenging hold placed by DIT. As the petition was taken up, a counsel for DIT appeared and presented papers regarding release of goods.

Shahsb Imam Advocate appearing for petitioners submitted that it has become a routine. He claimed cost of litigation.
The bench told the petitioners counsel that as goods have been released, petition becomes fructuous and question about domain etc of DIT have been settled.

The bench then disposed of the petition with observation that conduct and imposition of cost against department will be dealt in some other appropriate proceedings as after release of goods after issuance of notices, the bench this time is taking a lenient view.
