ISLAMABAD: The SECP arranged an awareness session on “Creating a Respectful Work Environment” conducted by Ms. Maliha Husain, Executive Director at MEHERGARH (A Centre for Learning). The session was attended by all staff members, who were given a detailed overview of the subject, the sensitivities involved as well as applicable laws.

Ms. Husain emphasised the need to encourage open communication within the organization, especially on topics such as sexual harassment, since awareness is the key to create a safe and inclusive workplace. She coached the attendees on the need to be empathetic and respectful to all, irrespective of age, race, gender or religion.  Ms. Maliha also shed light on the applicable laws and guided the attendees on how to approach authorities with regards to those laws.

SECP, as an equal opportunity employer, remains dedicated to the cause of women’s empowerment. As a result of policy intervention in recent years, female representation at senior level has increased to 23% in 2023, while 51% of new recruits in 2022 were female. Additionally, day care facility, dedicated prayer area, female doctor  and 180-day maternity leave have been introduced to encourage and retain working mothers. A dedicated committee has also been established to resolve complaints related to harassment.
