KARACHI: A distinguished line of speakers will be gathering on March 13, 2023 for a conference on National Policy Dialogue on the Power Sector under the theme of “Localisation for Growth.” The event is being convened by Nutshell Group in collaboration with K-Electric and will address today’s pertinent challenges in promoting indigenous growth.
The day-long summit features high-profile speakers including Federal Minister for Power, Khurram Dastgir Khan; Government of Sindh, Kamran Tessori; CEO K-Electric Moonis Abdullah Alvi; and CEO & Founder Nutshell Group, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan.
The dialogue titled, Localisation for Growth will explore the local opportunities that can support and combat prevailing challenges in creating and maintaining efficient, resilient supply chains that can catalyze Pakistan’s manufacturing sector and support the country’s economic aspirations. Potential multi-billion investment opportunities exist across the country, particularly within the power sector. The discussions will lead to formulating a way forward toward utilizing indigenous resources for innovative and technological advancement. All three tangents of acquiring equipment and components for the development of power-producing units, electricity transmissions, and distributions network will be addressed.
According to a report titled “CAREC Energy Outlook 2030” released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Pakistan’s energy sector needs investments ranging from USD 62 billion to USD 155 billion by 2030. The most significant investments are required in the power generation and energy efficiency sectors because of the rapidly growing demand and low baseline efficiency.
“Sustainable, efficient supply chains are critical to Pakistan’s economic growth. The power sector has a responsibility to lead the conversation as we are the backbone of the economy. Investment in infrastructure presents a lucrative opportunity for collaboration and growth in local industries. These synergies will enable us to create a win-win environment which benefits the country, the power sector, and the customers it serves.” CEO K-Electric Moonis Abdullah Alvi.
“I have always believed in localisation as the most essential step towards strengthening the economy with essential sustainability while preserving its biological and cultural diversity.” Founder & CEO, Nutshell Group; former Minister of State & Chairman BoI.
