KARACHI: In the wake of recent security situation and terrorism threats in the country, it has been learnt through reliable sources that said terrorists are likely to launch attack against government installations and properties all over Pakistan.
There has already been a suicide bomb blast in Islamabad and incident of CTD Centre Bannu, KPK.
Importance of the Karachi Port including Oil Installation Area being hub of the national economic growth and ensuring its security is important and cannot be ignored.
In view of the above, it is once again emphasize that following security measures is required to augment effective security measures as per the instructions / guidelines of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and KPID to formulate the foolproof mechanism to enhance the security of the most sensitive area, particularly in the lights of serious security threats faced at the moment to thwart any such incident:
a. Perimeter concrete wall may be constructed with the height of 12 feet and over it 03 feet galvanized concertina wire be installed.
b. Solid concrete gates may be installed and 01 x additional gate may be constructed in front of SAPTL.
c. RFID readers with computerized access at all entry/exit points may be installed for controlled and speedy entry / exit in 01A.
d. UVIS, Hydraulic bafflers and Explosive scanner facility may be installed at all gates. The provision of separate security clearance room equipped with walkthrough gate, baggage scanner, NADRA verification machines also be made.
e. Adequate lightening arrangement is required for effective surveillance.
f. Security vetting of Employees and security staff of OMC/OCAC/TAPs from Special Branch.
g. Additional PTZ/Fixed cameras may be installed for round the clock surveillance. Command and Control Centre is to establish in Bolan Yard.
h. Mock exercises may be planned quarterly.
